Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about hydroseeding or erosion control? You’re not alone. At North West Hydroseeding, we believe an informed customer makes the best decisions. Explore our most frequently asked questions to better understand our process, results, and what to expect from our services.

What is hydroseeding?

Hydroseeding is a cost-effective method of planting grass using a mixture of water, seed, mulch, and fertilizer. It’s sprayed directly onto soil to encourage fast and even growth.

How long does it take for grass to grow after hydroseeding?

You’ll start seeing growth within 7–10 days under ideal conditions. Full, healthy coverage usually appears in 3–4 weeks.

Is hydroseeding better than sod?

Yes, in many cases. Hydroseeding is more affordable than sod and produces a stronger root system because the grass grows in place naturally.

When is the best time to hydroseed?

Spring and early fall are the best seasons, when temperatures are moderate and there’s consistent moisture. However, with proper care, hydroseeding can be done in other seasons too.

Do I need to water the lawn after hydroseeding?

Absolutely. Watering is crucial for successful germination. We recommend watering 2–3 times daily for the first two weeks, then adjusting based on growth and weather.

What areas do you serve?

We proudly serve Tacoma, Olympia, Puyallup, Renton, Bremerton, Shelton, and many surrounding areas across Pierce, Thurston, Kitsap, and King Counties.

Can hydroseeding help with erosion control?

Yes. Hydroseeding is an excellent solution for erosion control, especially on slopes, hillsides, or disturbed construction sites.

Is the service safe for pets and kids?

Yes! Once the hydroseeding slurry dries (usually within a few hours), it’s completely safe for pets and children.
